Timeouts and failed page loads keep their error codes.

A render that times out now returns render_timeout, and a page that can’t be loaded navigation_failed, instead of both arriving as render_failed.

Two errors were reaching you under the wrong name. A render that ran out of time and a page that could not be loaded both arrived as 502 render_failed, and neither was charged. They now arrive as documented:

  • 504 render_timeout when the page doesn’t finish rendering within timeout_ms.
  • 502 navigation_failed when the page can’t be loaded at all.

What changes for you: if your code retries or alerts on render_failed, handle these two codes as well. Like any render that fails after the browser has started, each now costs one credit, as the documentation’s credit rules describe. Before you retry a timeout, try a higher timeout_ms.
