ImprovedAPI

Browsers keep embedded screenshots.

Screenshots now carry a Cache-Control header that follows cache_ttl, so a page that embeds one doesn’t fetch it again on every view.

Every image response now has a Cache-Control header:

  • With cache_ttl set, it’s private, max-age= that many seconds. On a cache hit, it’s no longer than the cached copy has left.
  • With cache_ttl=0, the default, it’s no-store, so every request still gets a fresh screenshot.

It matters most for signed URLs in an <img> tag. With cache_ttl set, a visitor’s browser shows the image again without a request, which costs nothing.
